USATF Grand Prix Series

Newport-Mesa Spirit Run is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of 11 road racing events from Inyo, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside and Santa Barbara counties to be included in the Southern California USATF Grand Prix Road Running Championship Series.

This series offers opportunities for USA Track & Field adult and youth members to compete in some of the best road races and fastest courses in our region. In these events, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in 26 men’s and women’s 5-year age groups receive USATF Championship medals. The overall men’s and women’s winners also receive a handsome plaque.  No additional entry fee is required to participate in the Road Championship Series.

Grand Prix Road Running Championships -Eligible Spirit Run Races

Newport-Mesa Spirit Run gives both adults and children choices of events that qualify USATF members for Grand Prix Series points as follows:

• Adults- choice of our Adult 5k or 10k;
• Pre high school children age 13 or 14 – Youth 5k; and
• Children aged 12 and under – choice of Youth 5k or age appropriate mile race.
