We regret that our medal company was unable to have Winners’ Medals available at the event as it promised. However, it has agreed to mail these medals to the medalists within the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience. Please review the Medal Winner documents above to confirm whether you won a Winner’s Medal.
Did your child receive a Newport-Mesa Spirit Run Finisher’s Medal? If not, limited quantities of the Finishers’ Medals are available for pickup at at Eastbluff Elementary Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. until April 5, 2013. Eastbluff Elementary is located at 2726 Vista del Oro, Newport Beach, California 92660 ((949) 515-5920).
Prize Pickup Information
Beginning Monday, March 11 through Friday, April 5, 2013, unclaimed prizes will be available for pickup as follows:
- Adult 5k, 10k, and 15k Prizes will be at Eastbluff Elementary Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Eastbluff Elementary is located at 2726 Vista del Oro, Newport Beach, California 92660, (949) 515-5920.
- Youth ¼ – 1-mile and Youth 5k -
We regret to inform you that Toy Boat, Spirit Run’s prize sponsor for youth winners aged 8 and under, closed its doors for business this past Sunday. If you haven’t already retrieved your child’s Toy Boat gift card prize from Toy Boat, please do not go to Toy Boat’s Corona del Mar location because it is now closed.We are working with Toy Boat to find another sponsor to cover the value of the unclaimed gift cards that Toy Boat had donated as Spirit Run youth prizes. We will email you with further details about obtaining and using the Toy Boat gift cards as soon as we receive them, hopefully within the next week to ten days.Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are saddened by the closing of Toy Boat, a loyal Spirit Run supporter for many years and a great small business in Newport Beach. PACKET PICKUP & WHOLE FOODS, FASHION ISLAND 5% GIVEBACK
Visit Whole Foods, Fashion Island to register and/or to pick up your race bib, t-shirt, and chip on the following days and times:
- Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM
- Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Thursday, February 28, 2013- Whole Foods, Fashion Island 5% Giveback Day
On Thursday, February 28th, Whole Foods, Fashion Island will donate 5% of its net profits to Newport-Mesa Spirit Run for the entire day!!!! When you visit Whole Foods, Fashion Island to register and/or pick up your race materials, please shop and dine there as well. Stock up on healthy, delicious organic food, enjoy lunch or dinner at Whole Foods’ Back Bay Tavern, or take dinner home including the $10 Thursday night pizza special. RACE INFORMATION
Adult 5K
5K is a run/walk around Fashion Island. 5K run starts first with a delayed start for the family walk. 5K participants expecting to finish after 9:30 a.m. may be asked to walk on the sidewalk to the line to accommodate access to Fashion Island . We appreciate your cooperation.
Adult 10K RUN
There is a time restriction on the 10K. You must be able to run faster than a 13 minute mile (or 1 hour 34 minute race).
Adult 15K
Run 5K and 10K – times combined and ranked. Registrants will be issued 2 bibs and must wear a different bib in each race to be eligible to win a medal or prize and to receive finishing times for the 5k, 10k, and 15k.
Youth ¼ to 1-Mile Races
Seven separate races ranging from ¼ mile to 1 mile for ages 4 – 12.
Medal and prize will be awarded to the top 3 boys and girls of each race.
Daily Pilot Youth 5K
This race is for pre-high schoolers 14 and under (grade level mandatory). Parents/guardians of youth in this event may register for the Adult 5k but run in the Youth 5k, but must start in the back and are not eligible for awards. No other adults may run in the Youth 5k.
Youth Combo
Registrants compete in the age appropriate ¼ mile to 1 mile race and the Youth 5k. Registrants will be issued 2 bibs and must wear a different bib in each race to be eligible to win a medal or prize and to receive finishing times for both races.
Twice the Fun
(Youth only) – Combined Entry into the Spirit Run on race day & the Frank E. Anderson Memorial Newport Beach Elementary Track Meet on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Corona del Mar High School. See registration form for further details about the Track Meet.
NEW Toddler Trot
This fun event is for two and three year olds. It will take place in our expo inside a fenced large astro turf covered area. Multiple start times will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Toddlers will receive finishers medals.
Kids’ Finisher Medal for all Youth Races
NEW Newport Beach Road Racing Series
Newport Beach Road Racing Series for Adults (15 and older) and Youth. The Series’ events include the 30th Anniversary Newport-Mesa Spirit Run, the Newport Beach Track Meet (youth only) on April 5, 2013, and the Corona del Mar Scenic 5k on June 1, 2013. Series’ benefits include discount pricing and series t-shirt for adults, and series’ medal and medal ceremony for youth. Click here for more information.
